Playgrounds to fight child obesity

Mexico’s been recently ranked as the number one country with child obesity over the world.In Monterrey, the third most important city in the country, the numer of obesity in children has increased dramatically.

TREPY is a modular playground based on a single element made in steel tube with nylon rope, where depending the surface and budget assigned to the park, different types of settings and games can be created. All of the different arrangements are focused in proper excercises to keep child’s body in shape, taking in consideration concepts such as competence, risk and motivation to encourage children to do physical activities outdoors.

Printemps was made using an abandoned christmas tree trunk. This pine took 9 years to grow up, just to be used once for a few weeks.  Now is the home of a “petirrojo”, traditional mexican bird and symbol of the spring arrival.

Auto-Doh is a toy that allows children to design their own car using molds and interchangeable pieces, developing creativity and interest in design in toddlers.

ESQUIVA is a set of jar and glasses made of clay and ceramic,inspired by the typical Mexican glass vitrolero and traditional clay pots.When water gets in contact with clay it acquires a characteristic taste and temperature,using tradition to cool drinks

 

Stool made for Ezequiel Farca design studio, inspired on ancient mayan shape of chac-mool using one inch thick industrial felt.
